Meet Sean!

If you’ve been training at Romero Athletics over the past few weeks, you’ve more than likely seen Sean’s friendly face around.

To give you a bit of background, Sean is 19 years old and hails from Grafton, NSW. He’s the first full-time intern at Romero Athletics and has been helping us out with sessions, filming and photography as well as providing some great company and energy in the facility.

Tell us about your interests, Sean.

Outside of training, I’m into bartending, video games, Nextflix binges and bad puns.

How did you find yourself interning at Romero Athletics?

After having a shoulder reconstruction, I sought the help of Al, basically following him around like a stray dog until the opportunity came up to learn more.

What’s your history with sports and training?

I’ve been playing rugby since I was 7 years old and in 2010 I started track sprinting following a rugby injury. My best time for 100 metres so far is 11.4 seconds.

What about your training now – what are your favourite exercises?

Squat and deadlift.

Favourite athlete?

Ben Johnson

Hit us with your goals – in training and in life.

My training goals are to go under 11 seconds in the 100 metres, and to deadlift 3 x my bodyweight.

In life, I’d like to positively the way youth athletes are trained to reduce incidents of injury and to improve performance.

What have you learned so far from interning at Romero Athletics?

That no one knows how to use their glutes properly!
